Sex Discrimination in State Government: No Males Need Apply
The catch, it’s for women only. No men need apply.
If some male should apply, and be turned down for being male, he could almost certainly sue.
As much as the left might dislike it, the Civil Rights laws protect whites as well as blacks, and men as well as women.
The City of Milwaukee found this out when white police officers, discriminated against because of their race, won a large jury award.

According to the Center for American Women and Politics at Rutgers, as of January 2003, less than 2% of all the people who have served in the U.S. Congress in history have been women. The U.S. ranks 71st globally in terms of women serving in democratically elected governments.
In 2004, 22.5% of state legislators in the U.S. were women. Currently, 8 of the 50 states have female governors.
Over half of the U.S. population is female.
Please don't tell me these stats exist because almost all of the time women just didn't feel like taking office. I can't imagine the kind of ignorant you'd have to be to think that sexism, limits in the legal and business world which make it very difficult for women to raise families and work full-time, consistently lower wages for women, and a healthy history of patriarchy have nothing to do with this.
One internship position in the Wisconsin Congress is not going to turn the tide and stop men from being elected to the vast, vast majority of political offices. But it might help get the ball rolling.
This internship is paid for by a women's group. Trying to make it possible for more women to take part in public service. And I think it's awesome.
I hope a man applies, is rejected, and sues.
This discrimination cannot be tolerated.
I can't tell if Amy is being sarcastic or serious.
Anyway, this is a public/private issue. I've heard of similar cases to the MPD, particularly in fire departments, and I believe those to be justified. Those are public positions.
The internship may be in a pubic organization, but it's privately sponsored. It's not taking away an existing position in a public organization from a male, but rather creating an opportunity for a female.
Whenever women don't do what liberals and feminists think they should, it's due to anything and everything but women choosing not hold office, be a CEO or the like. It's always the fault of the "patriarchy" and sexism.
Give me a break.
If over half the US population is female, then there are plenty of women who could apply for these jobs...if they choose to do so.
They don't.
Women cannot have full-time careers and be full-time mothers. It just doesn't happen because there are only 24 hours in a day and - at the end of that day - women CHOOSE jobs with lower pay and more flexibility.
As a woman, I know I live in the greatest and freest nation on the planet. I could do anything I want. I choose not to have an 80 hour/week career and focus on raising my son instead.
