New York Times Touts Alito’s Conservatism, Portrayed Ginsburg as Moderate

From NewsBusters, an account of how the New York Times portrayed Justice Ginsberg during her confirmation process, as opposed to how they are labeling Alito.

It’s perfectly fair to call Alito a “conservative,” but why not label an ACLU activist, who — it turns out, has consistently voted liberally on the court — a “liberal?”

The answer, quite simply, it that in the minds of the people who write and edit the Times, being a liberal is the “moderate” position. Ginsberg thinks like they think, and thus could hardly be in thrall of any ideology!
