Marquette Warrior: Adopt-a-Terrorist for Prayer?

Adopt-a-Terrorist for Prayer?

Yep, that’s the motto of a website whose ministry is based on the idea that the struggle against radical Islam is spiritual, not material, and must be fought spiritually.

Thus people are encouraged to “adopt a terrorist” and pray for the conversion of that terrorist to Christianity.

Check out the You-Tube clip below.

The site is rather moderate in tone, warning against dehumanizing Muslims in general, but making no bones about the fact that the terrorists are wrong and that Christianity is superior to Islam.

Which means it won’t appeal to the hard-core politically correct types like Jeremiah Wright or Marquette’s own Dan Maguire, who believe that terrorists are doing God’s work chastizing evil imperialistic America. That is, if they believe in God (which is a bit questionable).

Neither will it appeal to people who want terrorists sent straight to Hell, the sooner the better.

We have no particular quarrel with the theology of the site, but would rather spend our time praying for the safety of American soldiers facing the terrorists in places like Iraq and Afghanistan.

Thank you for your fair and objective review. I've tried to stay away from contrasting Christianity and Islam and tried to distinguish between Muslims and Terrorists. The site's purpose is not to convert Muslims but to obey Jesus by praying for enemies. Muslims are not enemies. Terrorists and the sponsors of their ideology are. For people who believe in the power of prayer, this is a strategic as well as loving course of action. I also pray for soldiers. I am one.

I preached a sermon on Matthew 5 last week and praying for our enemies is what Jesus tells us to do. When we realize that we as Christians need to give up all of our rights to follow Jesus, we will realize that Christ is all-sufficient. If we live how He taught us, we will be perfect as our Father in heaven is perfect.
We would be w/o most of the NT w/o the terrorist known as Saul being converted. These prayers could lead to the Mulsim version of Paul. What a priveledge to be a part that could change the world.
I agree wholeheartedly that we should also pray for the safety of our troops. Terrorists converting to Christianity would be the ultimate way to keep our troops safe - no terrorists = no enemies.
