We are here to provide an independent, rather skeptical view of events at Marquette University. Comments are enabled on most posts, but extended comments are welcome and can be e-mailed to jmcadams2@juno.com. E-mailed comments will be treated like Letters to the Editor. This site has no official connection with Marquette University. Indeed, when University officials find out about it, they will doubtless want it shut down.

Perhaps if you were not a tenured professor with a Harvard education and actually had some experience of poverty, discrimination, and unemployment .. you could actually talk about these issues with some degree of credibility.
some experience of poverty, discrimination, and unemployment
You are never going to be able to think clearly about these issues unless you get beyond political correctness.
Poverty in and discrimination against the black community are vastly less than they were a half-century ago, but crime is worse.
Unemployment simply has little correlation with crime. During the Obama years, unemployment has spiked upward to 9.2%, but crime has changed little.
You've got to quit thinking in a stereotyped way.
Ask yourself what is going on in the black community that produces this kind of culture.
How about kids with no father in the home? How about welfare dependency?
How about liberals who make excuses?
And Bill James can't comment about baseball because he never played it?

I doubt the first commenter has any experience with "poverty, discrimination, and unemployment." I think he's just a middle class white kid who picked that up from some politically correct professor.
