Susannah Bartlow Knew About, Supported Assata Shakur

Susannah Bartlow, who was just yesterday apparently fired by Marquette, was the Director of the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center, where a huge mural painted on the wall honored the cop killer and domestic terrorist Assata Shakur.

Until now, we have entertained the idea that this was merely an act of gross negligence on the part of Bartlow and the staff at the GSRC. Did they not know who Shakur is? Was it just “failure to Google?”

But an assiduous web surfer brings us this information: Bartlow signed a petition at change.org demanding that Barack Obama remove Shakur from the “Most Wanted Terrorists” list.

So Bartlow knew perfectly well who Shakur is. And she chose to present Shakur as a sage and a role model for Marquette students.

  1. When will Marquette(and so many other Catholic universities) learn, this is what happens when you supplant Catholic identity with leftist ideology/"liberation theology"/PC pandering? These activists are NOT interested in the mission of the Church or Her apostolates. They exist to advance their political agenda and will take advantage of every useful idiot they can find to do so. Marquette needs to stop being the useful idiot!

  2. John the students and faculty on campus and the city of Milwaukee is mobilizing against the administration. Our the students and faculty and city of Milwaukee truly this liberal? Do you think they're going to cave in? I would love your feedback.

    Also did you see this?

  3. What makes a person create a hero mural, knowing the person is a cold blooded criminal and on the top ten most wanted list? It seems to me it has nothing to do with politics. It is a collapse of real intimacy that considers children. It is a collapse of faith and fidelity of a man and women that give us our family connections. It is a collapse of that which gives us community. Marquette could be a leader, but not if it continues to deny that which is natural, good, and true.

  4. I have to wonder about Marquette's status as "useful idiot." Are the ideologized, politicized Jesuits, administrators and (many) faculty naive about political agendas? That would be good news, indeed. It seems to me the useful idiots are more likely to be found among some alumni and "generous" donors to the university--those who wish to assume Marquette's claim to be Catholic has integrity.

  5. Duh! While it is said that an infinate number of monkeys pounding on an infinite number of typewriters for an infinate length of time will eventually type the complete works of Shakespeare, there are not enough students at Marquette to randomly type the letters "Assata Shakur."
