MUSG Student Life Committee Approves Legislation to Address Blogging Issue

In response to the issue of the Dental School blogger who was suspended on the basis of statements made on his off-campus blog, the Marquette Student Government’s Student Life Committee has approved legislation to protect student free expression. The approval of a proposal on Student Rights of Freedom of Expression occurred at tonight’s meeting of the committee.

This from a source close to the Committee.

The entire Student Senate will apparently take up the legislation tomorrow night, at 7:30 p.m. in the AMU room 227.

The student’s suspension is being appealed to the Dean of the Dental School, who could overturn the decision to suspend the student, could uphold it, or could require a reconsideration by the committee that imposed the suspension.
